This is a big moment for me and my business and firstly I would like to thank everyone who helped make this possible and yeah I know this sounds like a speech from the Oscars but I have had a lot of support and help in getting the site to where it is so people need to be thanked. Mia thanks for putting up with a stressed out boyfriend and for all your help uploading images while I was out in the field. Beau you did an amazing job on the site cheers mate and anyone who needs a new website for their business should contact Beau Mitchell for a quote, you wont be disappointed trust me. Last but not least I would like to thank all of my customers, fans and of course my family and friends who have supported me over the past 7 years.

Crescent Head – Mid North Coast NSW

I met up with an old mate of mine landscape photographer Simon Beedle (watch out for this guy) for a quick road trip to the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. We had originally planned a week at Fraser Island but cancelled due to the cyclones off the Queensland Coast and I have to say that im pretty happy we ended up heading south instead, we got some of the best light I have shot in very a long time.

This is a 10 image vertical stitch of Crescent Head. Also there may be a new toy on the way but more about that one another time…

Snapper Rocks

I have caught some of the best waves I’ve ever surfed at this break but whenever the surf is good I’m generally left with a choice of getting some pics or getting some waves. The surf had been really good and this day was no different breaking from behind the rocks and running all the way through to Greenmount. These are a couple shots I snapped off when Beau and I were down that way last week.

Stormy Sunset

With the state awards fast approaching I decided that it was time to go shooting for the day. Beau Mitchell and I headed south, originally wanting to photograph the border ranges the light wasn’t right so we decided to hit the beaches for something different. Our trip went from the Gold Coast down through the Tweed Coast to Byron Bay and finally back to the Gold Coast where this sunset shot was taken.

Phillip Island – Victoria

This is an old shot from a trip I took down to Victoria a few years ago.

I arrived a little while before sunset and the sky had a thick haze that had been around all day so i was hoping once the sun began to set i would get some good light to work with. I set up and took a few photos with all different compositions, this image happened by chance whilst changing film the boardwalk caught my eye so i shot a singular frame and turned back to shoot the Nobbies.

Phillip Island has a massive fairy penguin colony so at sunset they close the roads and kick everyone out to stop the little trackers from getting ran over. The ranger was giving me quite the hurry up but the light was just to good to leave so i kept shooting, in the end he stood in front of my lens during the best sunset I have ever seen. All part of the game, I did manage to get this one image as well as a few others which you will be able to see in the coming month with the release of my new website.

A windy sunrise at Burleigh Heads

I had set my alarm for 4:50am in hope of capturing decent sunrise at Burleigh Heads. When my alarm went off and I heard that it was pouring with rain and blowing a gale I turned it off and tried getting back to sleep… no victory today, wide awake and average weather at best damn it. One of the benefits of living two streets from the beach is that I can see the ocean and get a pretty good idea if it is worth the effort of leaving the house. I couldn’t see any inviting sky but I decided to go anyway as I had been wanting to work on this stitching business.

This is one of my first stitches with moving water and I think it is pretty good and the sky was also worth the effort in the end

Port Macquarie – APPA

I have been doing this photography gig since I left school in 2002, I started out at the markets selling some of my photos as mounted prints which were ready to frame. Looking back at them now I cringe, crooked horizons and all, even a Nikon thrown in there yep I once used a Nikon sad I know. I finally upgraded to a Canon EOS 3 and have been using Canon bodies and lens’ alongside my Fuji 617 ever since gotta love that velvia.

This is one of my images I will be entering into the 2010 Queensland Professional Photography Awards QPPA and depending on how it goes it might make an appearance in Melbourne for the Australian Professional Photography Awards APPA. Over the years I have won a few awards both state and national so I am hoping to add to the collection.

This shot is a 3 image horizontal stitch of Tacking Point lighthouse in Port Macquarie

Tallebudgera Creek Sunset

As I left home to meet up with Gold Coast/Perth photographer Beau Mitchell it began to pour with rain, not the best conditions to be shooting a sunset. It was still quite overcast and rainy when i got to Tallebudgera, i was thinking that all i was going to get was a wet camera instead of a new image but in the past every time i go home in these conditions the sky goes crazy with the most amazing light. It wasn’t one of those days with the perfect light you dream of and it was still spitting on and off but eventually the sky began to glow with some nice colour and this is what i came up with… hope you like it.

I was looking through my old images last night and came across a folder of scans that i never got around to editing, this little sucker was one of those hiding scans.

If you shoot or used to shoot with film/slide you might remember a few years ago Fuji was having trouble getting an crucial element used in the production of their Velvia 50. Eventually it vanished off the face of the earth leaving us with a garbage version of our once beloved velvia which is what this shot of jetty in Hervey Bay was was taken using.

Lamington National Park

For most of my shooting life I have always used film and loved it. I have no issues with digital I just love that feeling you get when you get when you are looking at a perfectly exposed transparency on the light box. I have resisted using digital for so long but a few moths ago i lashed out and bought the Canon 5D Mark 2 and I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner the results are amazing, the files are big, crisp and full of colour what more could I ask for.

Last time I walked to Elabana falls I got nailed by leaches so after seeing a guy in the carpark with a whole lot of leach marks on his legs I wasn’t that enthused about the next 7km walk. This time I escaped with no leeches and this 3 image stitch of Elabana falls.
